Meet the Staff

Presiding over a cheerful team is the Principal of the Surgery : Jim Fotheringham B.D.S 

     
 

Dr. Jim Fotheringham graduated from Birmingham University Dental School in 1976. He worked in the Community Dental Service based in Carlisle, Cumbria, for 5 years and worked at the City General Hospital's Orthodontic Department as a postgraduate assistant. He took over the treatment, both preventative and clinical, of children with physical and mental special needs. In 1982, Dr. Fotheringham opened the Dental Surgery in Brampton and developed a postgraduate interest in dental treatment under sedation, endodontics, crown and bridge work and treatment of jaw dysfunctions (migraines and headaches). After many years, while it may sound odd Dr. Fotheringham states:"I absolutely love the work!"

   
Marcia Reid -Williams, Practice Manager, has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, a Masters in Education and a Professional Diploma in Family Therapy from Hofstra University in New York, USA. While in the USA, in addition to having a private practice as a psychologist, Ms. Reid-Williams has spent the last 10 years becoming an expert consultant in Healthcare Networks, Quality Management and Customer Services. She recently relocated to England and became a member of the team in December, 1997.
Gillian Whitaker, dental nurse, is the senior most team member who started working with Dr. Fotheringham in 1981. Through the years, she has participated in the Dental Surgery Assistant's course, in addition to completing courses on "Children's Diet and Tooth Decay," and "Diet Management." Ms. Whitaker organizes and coordinates "The Smiley Club" for school-aged children.
     
The friendly voice you will most likely hear when you call the surgery belongs to Ailsa Macleod (right) who became a team member in September 1994. Ailsa has completed courses in Computer Studies and Reception Management.
     
Claire Tweddle, dental nurse, started working as a team member in February 1993. She has completed City and Guild's course in Caring. Along with other team members, Ms. Tweddle has completed numerous courses including Cross Infection Control and Team Building.
     
Fiona Kellet, dental nurse, is the newest member on the team; she started in February, 1998. Ms. Kellet has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Northumbria. She recently completed a course with other team members in Customer Services.
